Meet Rob and Lauren, these two brought all the FUN to their Styal Lodge wedding back in the summer. I spent the day laughing, being chased by a dinosaur (yes, really!) and photographing an amazing bunch of people.
Styal Lodge is, hands down, one of the best wedding venues in Cheshire. Tucked away in the beautiful village of Styal it’s a family run, bespoke venue that is perfect for couples who are after a blank canvas they can really make their own.
Weddings at Styal Lodge
One of my favourite things about Styal Lodge is the private bridal sitting room. With views out over the landscaped gardens it is the perfect spot for hair, makeup and all the morning preparations. I started the day there with Lauren and her “Bride Tribe” who were all in high spirits. The music was on, the fizz was flowing and everyone was chattering away. As the sitting room is next door to the ceremony and reception space I was able to spend the morning capturing the action as well as making sure I had those all important detail shots in the bag.
The ceremony room looked beautiful. It’s filled with natural light and the wooden walls give it a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. Lauren and Rob had chosen to say their vows underneath a rustic floral arch whilst green foliage and flower garlands were looped around the ceiling beams. When Rob arrived (looking very dapper in his suit and bow tie) he made sure he had a moment to himself within the space before it slowly filled up with all their guests.

One of my most asked questions is “What do we do if it rains?” My new answer is, take a leaf out of Rob and Lauren’s book. Roll with it! The one thing we can never control is the good old British weather so it’s not worth worrying about. Rob and Lauren laughed through the rain. We photographed their family groups underneath the entrance canopy and next to the floral arch. Then, as soon as there was a little break in the downpour, we dashed outside to the garden for some portraits of the two of them. Lauren was wearing cowboy boots (soooo cool!) so she couldn’t care less about the slightly wet ground!
Later that afternoon Rob and Lauren were determined to have some photographs down by the lake, it was one of the reasons they’d booked Styal Lodge after all! We grabbed umbrellas, jumped on the golf buggy and headed down there. There was still some drizzle in the air but who cares! Lauren and Rob certainly didn’t. We got our portraits and headed back to the Lodge, where everyone was waiting outside with a surprise guest. A T Rex! Yes, you read that right, a dinosaur had come along to join the party! There was a lot of laughter as the dino chased guests around the gardens and happily posed for photographs. It even took to the outside dance floor!
