Intimate Wedding at Ashfield House | Chelsey & Isis

Same sex wedding - Ashfield House

YES! What a corker of a blog I’ve got for you today. A fab couple? Check! An amazing venue? Check! And a bloomin’ marvellous intimate wedding? Check! This one ticks all the boxes.

Back in June I pitched up at Ashfield House in Wigan, all ready to photograph Chelsey and Isis’ wedding day. They had planned a wonderfully small, cosy and intimate wedding at Ashfield which is PERFECT for smaller wedding do’s. It felt just like a house party which was exactly the vibe Isis and Chelsey were after.

Ashfield House, a country house wedding venue

Ashfield House is right up there as one of my favourite wedding venues. As soon as you land on their website you see:

“When couples take over exclusively for their wedding day, our house becomes like their home and we become like their extended family!”

And it’s so true! The team at Ashfield House are amongst the best in the business. So warm and friendly. They are amazing with couples and weddings there run like clockwork, with an added dash of friendliness and good humour!

Ashfield House itself is a large country house, it looks impressive but inside it really is like a home from home. Filled with quirky touches and but with enough space for the couple to make the place their own. I love a blank canvas venue and there’s nothing better than seeing a couple stamp their personality all over their day. Which is exactly what Isis and Chelsey did, they’d gone for a really elegant look with wooden table numbers and white florals. They didn’t want to detract from the amazing details of Ashfield House and simply wanted to compliment it.

Micro weddings at Ashfield House

With just 20 guests this wedding was small but perfectly formed. Plus (and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to mention it) there were dogs! Yes, Chelsey and Isis had made sure that their canine friends were invited to the day and, as you can imagine, I was in my element!

The ceremony was the perfect blend of emotional and hilarious. Isis and Chelsey just love laughing together and they giggled away throughout their vows. After they’d celebrated their newly wed status by walking through a cloud of confetti (I love that part of the day!) it was time to spend some time with their loved ones on Ashfield House’s beautiful terrace. The dogs were loving all the attention they were getting, luckily Chelsey and Isis weren’t bothered at all that their thunder was being stolen!

We decided to head out for portraits after the wedding breakfast. It was a gloriously warm and sunny day so I wanted to wait for that beautiful evening light. After some heartfelt speeches we nipped out to the gardens. This was a chance for Chelsey and Isis to spend some time together whilst I snapped away.

When we arrived back at the House everyone was gathered in the bar, and it felt like they were enjoying some time in a rather grand living room! It was so lovely to see everyone relaxing on the sofas, chatting away and enjoying a drink or two. Chelsey and Isis both told me that they loved how they got to spend quality time with all their guests rather than feel the need to quickly chat to everyone.

Whether you’re planning a cosy celebration with a handful of loved ones, or a big old knees up with all your favourites then Ashfield House is ideal. I love how it felt like home to Chelsey and Isis on their wedding day which is exactly the vibe they were after.

Here are my highlights.
