Tucked away in the lovely little town of Knutsford you’ll find Larkspur Lodge. A 200 year old barn that has been lovingly restored and refurbished into a quirky and stylish wedding venue. Surrounded by fields but only a couple of minutes from the centre of Knutsford it’s in the most perfect spot. Two families bought the barn a few years ago and oversaw every stage of its renovation. They now run the business and deal with the day to day of weddings there. You can tell that everyone involved gives 100% to each and every couple’s day which I love.
Inside rustic features - exposed brick walls, wooden floorboards and the large barn space - are mixed with quirky decor and original ideas. I love the ceremony room with its vintage cinema seats and the cosy snug is the perfect spot for couples to tuck themselves away for a few minutes whenever they want chance to catch up amidst the madness!
Weddings at Larkspur Lodge
I started the day with Katy up in Larkspur Lodge’s dedicated prep room. Everyone was in great spirits and I could feel the excitement in the air. I love the atmosphere of morning prep. A combination of excitement, anticipation, nerves and joy. It’s a heady mix!
Katy and Garreth had booked me for photo and video, so I was employing all my ninja skills! I am a one man band when it comes to photo and video, I don’t bring along a load of assistant shooters so when you book my “hybrid” coverage you still get the discreet, natural style of my photography. Just with video thrown in the mix as well! I am a real sucker for emotion (I’m sure you’ve all guessed that by now) so I absolutely adored the moment Katy’s family and bridesmaids saw her in her wedding dress for the first time. There were giggles, beaming smiles, hugs and tears. Beautiful! Katy looked absolutely stunning and Garreth couldn’t stop grinning as she walked down the aisle towards him.

It was a beautifully sunny day, when everyone arrived at Larkspur Lodge following the church ceremony they congregated on the outdoor terrace enjoying canapes and drinks.
After Katy and Garreth had been hugged and kissed by everyone there I snuck them off for a few photographs and to give them the chance to have a breather and enjoy a bit of time together. A wedding day flies by in the blink of an eye and couples always tell me how much they enjoy having this bit of time out on their day. Yes I’m there taking some photographs but I know when to retreat into the background and leave you both to chat and laugh together. The beauty of Larkspur is that you don’t have to walk too far to find some amazing spots for photographs so, before they knew it, Katy and Garreth were back with their friends and family.
