Summer Wedding at Salmesbury Hall | Liz & Sam
Wedding photography at Salmesbury Hall - Liz and Sam
I’ve been photographing weddings around Lancashire for a good few years now so it’s always a nice surprise when I rock up at a venue I’ve not shot at before, in this case that was Salmesbury Hall. Lancashire’s Salmesbury Hall is a pretty fascinating place. It is packed full of history (and apparently the odd ghost). Weddings take place in the black and white timbered medieval house so as you can imagine that looks mightily impressive on photos!
Summer weddings at Samlesbury Hall
I spent Liz and Sam’s wedding day channelling some pretty major summer vibes. The lads were all in cropped trousers and brogues (they looked very dapper) while guests drank fruit punch and played croquet on the lawn. You can’t get much more genteel British summer eh! I’m reminiscing about blue skies and sunshine as I type, take me back!
Bride and groom prep photography
As their rooms at Salmesbury weren’t quite ready Liz and Sam got ready at the same nearby hotel, just in separate rooms of course as a nod to tradition. It always works well when everyone gets ready at the same place, or near to each other, as it means I can capture both the bride and groom in the morning. Couples love looking back at what the other has got up to before the ceremony! After shooting a few photos of the lads out in the sunshine I returned to the girls and there was a lot of laughter as her bridesmaids managed to sneak Liz out under a blanket. After all, they didn’t want to risk Sam catching a glimpse of her before the ceremony!
After all that fun and madness Liz ended up being 45 minutes late for the ceremony, cue a very relieved Sam mopping his brow as she made her way down the aisle towards him! The rest of the day passed in a glorious blur of hugs, laughter and lawn games. The perfect wedding reception if you ask me! Sam was in for a surprise when it came to speeches though. His best man whipped out a guitar during his speech and absolutely rocked it! Sam had no idea he could sing so definitely wasn’t expecting it. The speech/song brought the house down and was the perfect intro to the evening reception and a packed dancefloor.
What a day! If you’re planning your wedding at Salmesbury Hall and are on the hunt for a photographer then look no further, haha! Get in touch and tell me all about your plans.
