Smallshaw Farm Wedding Photography | Molly & Robin
Am I allowed favourite couples? Although to be fair, if I was, then every single couple would still end up being my number one. I’m a lucky wedding photographer!
These two are mega cute though, and their wedding was an all round gorgeous day. I’d made my way over to Yorkshire, to Smallshaw Farm Cottages where Molly was getting ready with her girls. Set amidst some pretty darn impressive landscapes the cottages are a perfect place to spend your wedding morning.
Cannon Hall Wedding Ceremony
Once they were ready the girls jumped into their rather swanky vintage convertible for the short drive over to Cannon Hall. Molly and Robin had chosen the Hall’s Deer Shed for their ceremony and the space lived up to it’s very cool sounding name! A rustic stone barn with exposed beams and some beautiful light drifting in through the windows. It was a fab setting for their simple and intimate ceremony.
Marquee Wedding Photography
Once the ‘official bit’ was out of the way it was back to Smallshaw Farm for the reception. Shades Canvas and Kook Events had set up one of the most dreamy marquees I’d ever set eyes on. Molly and Robin had chosen a rustic vibe for the day and the foliage and trees (yep, actual trees!) within the marquee fulfilled their brief perfectly. Hats off to Sweetpea & Thyme Florist who had gone to town on the venue dressing!
Just as a side note April, from Kooks Events, is a top wedding planner and was incredible at making sure the day ran smoothly. Molly and Robin didn’t have to worry about anything, April took care of anything that arose (not that anything did!) and dealt with it. She’s also one of the calmest people I’ve ever met too!
I’ve got to say, shooting Molly and Robin’s wedding portraits was a real pleasure. They are so in love and natural in front of the camera. I always encourage couples to just be themselves and these two really made the most of the time they had together (ignoring the beardy guy with a camera, ha)!
Epic Wedding Party Photography
This was not your average wedding day. Molly and Robin had gone very non traditional and packed their day full of little touches to make their guests smile. They’d hired a mechanical bull and a bouncy castle to keep everyone entertained but one of the highlights were the rubber ducks that guests were given. The aim of the game was to sneak one into someone else’s drink and the ‘victim’ then had to down whatever was left in their glass. As you can imagine that led to a lot of raucous laughter and some brilliant photo moments. One of my favourites is when a guest managed to get a duck into Robin’s glass just before he stood up for his speech. Nothing like a bit of Dutch courage at that point in the day!
I can’t finish this blog without a shout out to Molly’s maid of honour. Molly and Robin had booked a DJ but there was a huge surprise in store for them. After the meal Molly’s maid of honour snuck away, got changed and then rocked up with her band to play their first dance. It was SO GOOD!
What a night, what a day! Molly and Robin, you two lovebirds rock!
