Winter Wedding at Willington Hall, Cheshire
It was my first time here at the absolutely stunning Cheshire Wedding Venue known as Willington Hall. I seem to have lots of luck recently with the weather at winter weddings. The sun didn’t stop shining all day for Rebecca & Chris’ big day, and I was so excited to be able to photograph it. What an absolute blast from the past though - Rebecca was actually one of my old college lecturers and as soon as we recognised one another, we spent more time chatting about old times rather than the wedding! Rebecca & Chris share their home with their two gorgeous pooches (Brody and Hugo). They’re obviously dog lovers, which is why I was so excited to see their wedding cake - you’ll just have to scroll down to see what I mean!
Gorgeous Cheshire Wedding Venue
Willington Hall is a family run wedding venue that is set within 17 acres of surrounding land. It is a large country house that was built in 1829, offering a romantic outdoor ceremony space with its garden temple hidden away within the ivy bushes. Willington Hall also has a beautiful indoor ceremony room, known as the Orangery - decorated with a gorgeous open skylight (a photographers dream!), a huge chandelier and a lovely view of the grounds. It’s safe to say that one of the best things about this venue is its versatility.

Rebecca & Chris seriously took a huge gamble with this venue (in regards to the time of year they were getting married in!) and I think it definitely paid off. Thank goodness that the typical English weather stayed away all day! We were able to make full use of the grounds at Willington Hall on this lovely and sunny winters day! With bridal prep over, it was time to get wed with their nearest and dearest, her dad was so honoured to walk her down the aisle and the sun was definitely shining as they both entered the room together. Which definitely set the mood for the rest of the day. I think it finally sunk in for Chris that he was getting married as his face was an absolute picture when Rebecca was walking down the aisle!
Relaxed Wedding Portraits
Now, I’m an absolutely sucker for the more ‘couple-y’ photos during the wedding day. Don’t worry, I never keep you away from your guests for too long, but I always find its nice to let the newlyweds share a moment alone together. More often than not, this actually brings out the giggles in my couples! I won’t pose you too much, we’ll go for a lovely walk around the grounds and I’ll get you to chat away with one another whilst I sit there in the background snapping away. I’m so glad the weather behaved during Rebecca & Chris’ wedding day as it made my job so easy, and it meant we could make full use of the beautiful surroundings at Willington Hall - we did exactly that!
We then ended the night by doing one of my favourite types of photos to create, a magical night time portrait outside of their venue!
